How To Keep Your Black or Brown Face & Body, Handsome & Healthy This Winter - APPEARANCE - NubianNewYorkers

 What's up NubianNewYorkers?

Alright, listen up, fam, let's have a real talk. Winter is right around the corner, and we gotta have a meeting about this because I can't have my people out here looking crazy.

(click any pic for expanded suggestions)

The cold weather is basically a hater, and its main goal is to make you look ashy and dry. It's like the world is trying to turn you into a dusty statue, and we are not having any of that this year. It's time to level up, so your skin is glowing, your hair is healthy, and your style is on point, even if it feels like the arctic outside.

First up, let's handle that skin.

You know what I’m talking about—that dry, tight feeling when the wind hits your face. We're putting an end to that. You need to switch up your face wash to something creamy that doesn't strip all the good oils off your skin. After you shower, when your skin is still a little damp, you gotta lock in that moisture immediately. Think of it like this: put on a light moisturizer or serum first, then a thicker cream on top of that, and then, this is the secret move, seal it all in with a few drops of a good oil.

For your body, get yourself a thick body butter with shea or cocoa butter. No more ashy elbows or knees, period. And I know it’s cloudy, but the sun is still out here doing damage, so please, for the love of all things holy, put on some sunscreen. It'll keep your skin tone even and looking right.

Now, let's talk about the crown you're rocking.

Our hair gets super brittle and dry in the winter, so you have to give it some extra love. This is non-negotiable: you need to be deep conditioning your hair every single week. Get a thick, moisturizing hair mask, put it on, and let it sit for a while. Your curls and coils will thank you.

To keep it moisturized all week, think in layers: a water-based leave-in conditioner, then a good oil, and then a cream to seal it all in. And listen, those wool beanies you love? They are secretly attacking your hair, sucking all the moisture out. Find one with a satin lining or just wear a satin cap underneath. Same goes for your pillowcase at night—get a silk or satin one. It's not about being fancy; it's about protecting your hair from breaking off.

Finally, let's get your wardrobe together so you look like you own the season instead of just surviving it.

Winter is the perfect time to play with deep, rich colors that look amazing on us. I'm talking about deep green, burgundy, and dark navy. You'll look like money.

It's all about layering up with different textures, like a nice wool coat over a chunky sweater. Your coat is the first thing people see, so invest in one that makes you feel like a boss. And don't forget the details. A nice scarf, some leather gloves, and a good pair of boots that can handle the slush without messing up your whole vibe will pull everything together.

Taking care of yourself isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling good from the inside out.

Now go out there and kill it! 😉

GAY MOVIE SHORTS - Mini-Movies Serving Queer Realness - NubianNewYorkers

 Listen up, beautiful people!

You already know we care about you here at NubianNewYorkers — we’ve been together longer than your favorite Netflix show that got canceled too soon.

Now, let’s be real: when it comes to entertainment, there’s barely anything about folks like us. It’s like we’re the family’s weird cousins — smarter, cooler, funnier, more fabulous — but somehow not invited to Thanksgiving dinner!

We’ve got brains, style, imagination, and hearts bigger than a Golden Retriever in a Disney movie. Yet the mainstream still acts like we’re invisible.

So guess what? We made our own party!

Check out these gay movie shorts — they’re funny, they’re cute, they’ll make you want to text your crush. Watch them, laugh, cry a little, and drop your thoughts in the comments. Oh, and don’t be greedy — share with your friends. Sharing is caring… unless it’s fries.

Alright, look, you actually made it to the end, and seriously, thank you for letting us be part of your day—we appreciate you choosing us over the seven other tabs you definitely have open, which is the digital equivalent of inviting a comedian into your living room.

Now that we’re friends, we need a favor: drop a comment below and tell us what you really think, because that internal monologue you have going on deserves an audience, and the comment section is less judgy than your actual therapist. But more importantly, stop being selfish—hit that share button and send this link to your friends; they’re doom-scrolling, their thumbs are tired, and you could be their hero in sweatpants by delivering this quality content, so don't be a monster, just click the buttons and spread the joy—otherwise, I'm forced to assume you hate us 😭

GOD BLESS!

NubianNewYorkers - From Bored to Busy: Smart Things to Do While You Wait in Line

If you're anything like me, you’ve spent at least 20% of your life standing in a line, sitting in a waiting room, or staring down the blinking cursor of doom at the DMV. Waiting is the universe’s way of reminding us that patience is overrated.

But fear not, my fellow time-hostages! I’ve discovered that waiting doesn’t have to feel like Purgatory with fluorescent lights. All you need is your trusty phone and a little creativity to turn that agonizing dead time into minutes that actually count for something. Here are 6 ways , that have worked for me, to make waiting feel almost productive—or at least less like punishment.

1. De-clutter Your Phone

Think of this as cleaning your digital junk drawer. Delete those 47 photos of the same sunset, the blurry cat pictures, and that mysterious screenshot from 2022 you swore you’d remember why you took. Your phone will breathe easier—and so will you.

2. Learn Something New

Open YouTube and type in anything that’s crossed your mind lately, like “how to fold a fitted sheet” or “why my plant hates me.” Five minutes later, you’ll be an expert—or at least as close to one as the Internet allows.

3. Make a Smart Shopping List

You know you’re going to forget something at the store anyway. Use the time to start a list in your favorite app. Whether it’s groceries, gadgets, or dream vacation gear, your “Add to Cart” thumb will get a workout. Bonus: less impulse shopping later. (Probably.)

4. Spread Some Positivity

Leave kind comments on friends’ posts. Tell that cousin their new haircut really does make them look like a movie star (even if the movie is a low-budget one). It’s good karma, good manners, and it fools social media algorithms into thinking you’re thriving.

5. Start Journaling

If a paper diary feels too 8th grade, open your notes app and unload. Tell it your thoughts, your frustrations, and the fact that you’re currently in line behind someone paying for gum with a check. It’s therapy without the co-pay.

6. Tidy Up Your Inbox

This is the adult version of cleaning your locker. Delete the junk, answer the messages, and finally unsubscribe from that newsletter you never read but feel mysteriously loyal to.

Waiting is inevitable. But wasting time while waiting? Now that’s optional. Next time you find yourself on pause, grab your phone and turn those minutes into small victories. Let us know if you like this post or have anything to add.

WE APPRECIATE YOU HERE AT NubianNewYorkers!

NubianNewYorkers - October 2025 Chocolate Man-Candy - Trick or Treat?

 OCTOBER

October 31st brings Halloween, a night where everyone can unleash their alter ego. Sexy costumes, playful role-playing, and mysterious personas let people tap into their seductive side. Whether you're going as a sultry vampire, seductive witch, or a classic cat, Halloween is the ultimate night for fantasy.

The crisp air, falling leaves, and cozy vibes of October set the perfect stage for intimate moments. Think candlelit dinners, warm blankets, and hot cider – it’s the season for romance to bloom and for getting closer with that special someone.

The full moon in October (called the Hunter's Moon) is said to be a time of heightened energy, deep emotions, and even sensuality. Full moons are often linked with mystery, desire, and the shedding of old energies, making it a great time for new romantic connections or reigniting passion in your current relationship.

Love it or hate it, pumpkin spice is a key scent of October and has a long history of being linked to comfort and warmth. Scent is a huge part of attraction, and the cozy, rich aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg can be undeniably seductive, triggering those "feel-good" vibes.

October's harvest season brings an abundance of aphrodisiac-rich foods like apples, figs, pomegranates, and dark chocolate. These foods are often linked to boosting libido, making the month perfect for romantic picnics or decadent dinners designed to turn up the heat.
