How To Keep Your Black or Brown Face & Body, Handsome & Healthy This Winter - APPEARANCE - NubianNewYorkers

 What's up NubianNewYorkers?

Alright, listen up, fam, let's have a real talk. Winter is right around the corner, and we gotta have a meeting about this because I can't have my people out here looking crazy.

The cold weather is basically a hater, and its main goal is to make you look ashy and dry. It's like the world is trying to turn you into a dusty statue, and we are not having any of that this year. It's time to level up, so your skin is glowing, your hair is healthy, and your style is on point, even if it feels like the arctic outside.

First up, let's handle that skin.

You know what I’m talking about—that dry, tight feeling when the wind hits your face. We're putting an end to that. You need to switch up your face wash to something creamy that doesn't strip all the good oils off your skin. After you shower, when your skin is still a little damp, you gotta lock in that moisture immediately. Think of it like this: put on a light moisturizer or serum first, then a thicker cream on top of that, and then, this is the secret move, seal it all in with a few drops of a good oil.

For your body, get yourself a thick body butter with shea or cocoa butter. No more ashy elbows or knees, period. And I know it’s cloudy, but the sun is still out here doing damage, so please, for the love of all things holy, put on some sunscreen. It'll keep your skin tone even and looking right.

Now, let's talk about the crown you're rocking.

Our hair gets super brittle and dry in the winter, so you have to give it some extra love. This is non-negotiable: you need to be deep conditioning your hair every single week. Get a thick, moisturizing hair mask, put it on, and let it sit for a while. Your curls and coils will thank you.

To keep it moisturized all week, think in layers: a water-based leave-in conditioner, then a good oil, and then a cream to seal it all in. And listen, those wool beanies you love? They are secretly attacking your hair, sucking all the moisture out. Find one with a satin lining or just wear a satin cap underneath. Same goes for your pillowcase at night—get a silk or satin one. It's not about being fancy; it's about protecting your hair from breaking off.

Finally, let's get your wardrobe together so you look like you own the season instead of just surviving it.

Winter is the perfect time to play with deep, rich colors that look amazing on us. I'm talking about deep green, burgundy, and dark navy. You'll look like money.

It's all about layering up with different textures, like a nice wool coat over a chunky sweater. Your coat is the first thing people see, so invest in one that makes you feel like a boss. And don't forget the details. A nice scarf, some leather gloves, and a good pair of boots that can handle the slush without messing up your whole vibe will pull everything together.

Taking care of yourself isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling good from the inside out.

Now go out there and kill it! 😉
