NubianNewYorkers,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some helpful steps in case anyone’s Medicaid or healthcare coverage gets cut (or ends by mistake). I know this can be stressful, but you’re not alone-we can get through this together!
Here’s what you can do if your Medicaid stops:
1. Call Your State Medicaid Office
- Reach out to the Medicaid office in your state as soon as you can.
- They can tell you why your coverage ended and what you need to do next.
- If you got a letter about your coverage ending, it should have instructions on how to appeal or fix things.
2. Appeal If You Think It’s a Mistake
- If you believe your coverage ended by mistake, you have the right to appeal.
- Usually, you have about 90 days from when you got the letter to ask for an appeal. The Medicaid office can help you with this.
3. Try to Get Your Coverage Back
- If your coverage ended less than 90 days ago, you might be able to get it back by turning in the right forms.
- If it’s been more than 90 days, you’ll probably need to apply again. The Medicaid office will tell you how to do this.
4. Look at Other Health Insurance Options
- If you can’t get Medicaid back, check if you can get health insurance through your job.
- You can also look at the Health Insurance Marketplace for other plans. Sometimes, you can get help paying for these plans.
Remember:
- Keep all letters and paperwork you get about your coverage.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The people at the Medicaid office are there to help you.
- If you need help with paperwork or phone calls, let me or another family member know-we’re here for each other!
Stay strong, and don’t give up.
With love and care,
E-MAN
