Using The Strong Black Body To Sell Products

I LOVE when I see companies that try to merge their product’s image with that of a strong black physique. Gatorade and athletic apparel companies are famous for this, but at least with them one can make the connection between athletics and sexy athletes.. Other products use the sexy black man to sell their products but never exactly explain the connection.. but I love to see them anyway.  Used to be a time when companies would use a sexy woman to say.. “buy our product and get a woman like this” now, it seems companies are saying “buy our product because its like this black man.. strong, sexy and tough!”

One that I can think of right away, is the new commercial for The Acura TL..

Can you think of a non-sports related commercial where a "brotha's" body seems to be a selling point? Please hit "comment" and LET US KNOW!

MUSIC- "Somewhere With You"

I love ALL kinds of music.. A good song is a good song.  Here's a Country Music song that i'm digging right now.. It's called "Somewhere With You" sung by Kenny Chesney, written by JTX (son of radio host, Jay Thomas).. Check it out.. Tell me what you think

"Somewhere With You" Lyrics

If you're going out with someone new
I'm going out with someone too
I won't feel sorry for me, I'm getting drunk
But I'd much rather be somewhere with you

Laughing loud on a carnival ride, yeah
Driving around on a Saturday night
You made fun of me for singing my song
Got a hotel room just to turn you on

You said pick me up at three a.m.
You're fighting with your mom again
And I'd go, I'd go, I'd go somewhere with you

I won't sit outside your house
And wait for the lights to go out
Call up an ex to rescue me, climb in their bed
When I'd much rather sleep somewhere with you

Like we did on the beach last summer
When the rain came down and we took cover
Down in your car, out by the pier
You laid me down, whispered in my ear

I hate my life, hold on to me
Ah, if you ever decide to leave
Then I'll go, I'll go, I'll go

I can go out every night of the week
Can go home with anybody I meet
But it's just a temporary high 'cause when I close my eyes
I'm somewhere with you, somewhere with you

If you see me out on the town
And it looks like I'm burning it down
You won't ask and I won't say
But in my heart I'm always somewhere with you

Laughing loud on a carnival ride, yeah
Driving around on a Saturday night
You made fun of me for singing my song
Got a hotel room just to turn you on

You said pick me up at three a.m.
You're fighting with your mom again
And I'd go, I'd go, I'd go

I can go out every night of the week
Can go home with anybody I meet
But it's just a temporary high 'cause when I close my eyes
I'm somewhere with you, somewhere with you

Somewhere with you
I'm somewhere with you
I'm somewhere with you
Somewhere with you
Somewhere with you

LIFE LESSON- Instructions For Life

  • Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
  • Memorize your favorite poem.
  • Don’t believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
  • When you say, “I love you”, mean it.
  • When you say, “I’m sorry”, look the person in the eye.
  • Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
  • Believe in love at first sight.
  • Never laugh at anyone’s dreams.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it’s the only way to live life completely.

  • In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
  • Don’t judge people by their relatives.
  • Talk slowly but think quickly.
  • When someone asks you a question you don’t want to answer, smile and ask, “Why do you want to know?”

  • Call your mom.
  • Say “bless you” when you hear someone sneeze.
  • When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
  • Remember the three R’s: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
  • Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  • When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  • Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

    • Spend some time alone.
    • Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
    • Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
    • Read more books and watch less TV.
    •  Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll get to enjoy it a second time.
    • Trust in God but lock your car.
    • A loving atmosphere in your home is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil harmonious home.
    • In disagreements with loved ones, deal with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
    • Read between the lines.
    • Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
    • Be gentle with the earth.
    • Pray. There’s immeasurable power in it.
    • Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
    • Mind your own business.
    • Don’t trust a man/woman who doesn’t close his/her eyes when you kiss.
    • At least once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
    • If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth’s greatest satisfaction.
    • Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck.
    • Learn the rules then break some.
    • Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.
    • Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
    • Remember that your character is your destiny.
    • Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
